Alan Grainger "AcornMan" blanket chest in oak
Alan Grainger "AcornMan" blanket chest in oak. Good construction and well made. Carved acorn to each corner and central panel. Made in the tradition of the arts and crafts movement and other Yorkshire "Critters" after Mouseman . In 1958 in the Yorkshire village of Bransby, Alan Grainger and his father Alan Grainger senior set up business, Acorn Industries, makers of furniture to the Arts and Crafts tradition. They adopted an acorn as their trade mark, with an acorn carved on all of their pieces. Their style is very much like that of Mouseman furniture who Alan Grainger senior had served his apprenticeship with. The company closed in 2005 when the last family member of the business retired. This item appears to be one of their later offerings. Measures 51.5 cm high x 115 cm wide x 46.4 cm deep. internal 32.5 cm high x 101 cm x 34 cm
